Food we ordered:
- Naxian Salad
- Kalogeros from Naxos
- Fresh Tuna Steak
When you’re on vacation, sometimes the day just gets away from you. We had so many activities on Naxos Island that we ended up making a late reservation at Tanines. We were a little sad to miss the famous sunset view, but the atmosphere inside was just as good. Tanines serves creative cuisine that mixes classic Greek flavors with some international twists. As soon as we walked in Tanines, the staff were super friendly and we felt totally welcomed. The seating is really comfortable, not too close to other tables, so you feel like you have your own space.
A Salad That Changed Everything
The food, wow. We started with a Naxian Salad to share. Naxian Salad is something special on the Naxos Island that you don’t easily find elsewhere. The vegetables tasted so fresh, and the Naxian Xinotyri cheese was a total game-changer. It’s a sour cheese from goat or sheep’s milk, and it has this special flavor that I just can’t describe. It’s something you have to taste for yourself!
The Main Event: Creative Cuisine
For the main course, we got two dishes that were absolutely incredible. We had the “Kalogeros” from Naxos, a traditional dish with tender veal, smoked eggplant puree, zucchini chips, and a creamy Arseniko cheese sauce. “Kalogeros” actually means “monk” in Greek, and this dish is a local specialty you must try. We also got the Fresh Tuna Steak, which was served with a cauliflower puree, sautéed spinach, and beetroot cream. Everything tasted so fresh, and the flavors just went together perfectly.
Service That Feels Like Family
And the staff? They were so awesome. Christina and Ioannis were our servers and they were so friendly and professional. They both speak really good English, which made communicating so easy and fun. They knew the menu so well and gave us great recommendations. We even learned that Christina had grown up in Australia, which was so cool! It’s so nice when the people working there make you feel like you’re just hanging out with friends.
If you’re looking for an awesome dinner venue, this place is a must-visit! Tanines might not be the cheapest choice on the island, but it’s totally worth it. The food quality and the whole experience are amazing, and it would be a perfect place for a celebration. Just remember to make a reservation in advance because it has very limited seats! You don’t want to miss out on this amazing food and good vibes on Naxos Island.
