Cafe Krone offers a charming escape, perfect for a relaxed chat with a friend over coffee and cake. We visited it on Oderberger Straße in Prenzlauer Berg on a Sunday afternoon around 4 pm, and the atmosphere was pleasantly uncrowded – a stark contrast to the bustling brunch hours we’d experienced on a previous visit.
Looking for small sweets for the afternoon, we ordered a hot matcha latte, a hot chocolate, and a tempting raspberry tart. The raspberry tart was a winner – a delightful combination of sweet and tart, perfect for those who enjoy fruity desserts. The matcha latte hit the spot as well – perfectly prepared and unsweetened, allowing you to customize the sweetness to your preference. The hot chocolate, however, was a bit of a letdown. It lacked the rich, decadent flavor we were hoping for.
The overall vibe at Cafe Krone leans toward cozy and inviting. It’s a great place to unwind and catch up with a friend. However, the service left a bit to be desired. While the staff we interacted with were friendly when they finally came to our table, it took a while to get their attention and place our order even though the cafe wasn’t very busy.
Another point to note: while we appreciate the staff’s swiftness in clearing our table once we finished, it happened so quickly that it unintentionally gave the impression of them rushing us out. We’re confident this isn’t their intention, but it’s something to be mindful of in terms of customer experience.
Despite the service hiccups, the cozy atmosphere, delicious cake, and decent (though not mind-blowing) drinks make Cafe Krone a decent option. If you look for a relaxed ambiance for conversation, it might be worth a visit, especially during the late afternoon time.
