Harapeco – Okonomiyaki and Sake Bar

Harapeco - Okonomiyaki and Sake Bar

We have been looking for a place to eat Okonomiyaki in Germany for quite awhile! We found Harapeco on a foodie map for Friedrichshain, the moment we saw it, we said thats the place we want to go.

For those who don’t know what Okonomiyaki is, it is a Japanese savory pancake that is originated in Osaka. There are many toppings one can put in his Okonomiyaki, after all, the word Okonomiyaki means ‘grilled as you like’.

Harapeco has meat, seafood, and vegetarian option. This time we decided to go for the meat option, which is the pancake top with some pork. The pancake itself is made of shredded cabbage, flour, egg. There are a few different sauces you can choose, and we decided to give the original and miso sauce a try. We also order some of our typical favourite appetiser – Karaage and gyoza to go with the Okonomiyaki.

The taste of the Okonomiyaki and other food are just amazing! The flavor and the sauce are a really good combination. Originally we planned to order some matcha ice-cream but they ran out of it, so we ordered a red bean ice-cream instead. The ice-crean isn’t too sweet and it’s full of red bean flavour.

We are really happy to find our Okonomiyaki place in Berlin (and probably the while Germany!) We will for sure be back next time when we crave for some Okonomiyaki.

Food we ordered:

  • Okonomiyaki Osaka
  • Karaage (Japanese fried chicken)
  • Gyoza
  • Red beans ice-cream
