Ramen Bar Zipang is one of our favourite Ramen places in Hamburg. It only opens in the evening and since it is soooo nice, even when we tried to go there at around 8.30pm, we still had to wait for around 15 minutes to get in. By the way, it seems that their last order is at around 9.30pm, so don’t arrive too late!
We like the place because the food they serve tastes more authentic than some other ramen places in Hamburg. The way how they cook the broth and handle the noodles and toppings are just like how we liked. The traditionelles Shoyu Ramen has a strong taste of fish because the broth is prepared with some dried fish. If you don’t like that much fishy taste, then we will recommend you to try with the normal Shoyu Ramen or other broth.
The fried chicken was very juicy and tender inside, crunchy and hot outside. Unlike many other places that go with Japanese mayonnaise, it was served with some special dip (we think it’s miso sauce). Chashu Don is at very high quality, the flavour of the chashu is amazing, but also the rice. The way how the rice was cooked was just perfect – you can taste the sweetness in the rice, it’s not too hard nor too soft. Together with the flavour from the Chashu, it just makes the dish to another level.
The staff is very friendly and polite. The place is not very big, but it is very clean and neat. We didn’t stay there for long because they were closing very soon. But we really enjoyed our dinner there, and it’s a place that we highly recommended for high-quality Ramen.
Food we ordered:

- Scharfes Miso Ramen
