Sakura Udon is at the centre of Hamburg near Jungfernstieg, very simple and basic menu, but it’s one of the most authentic and delicious Japanese Udon meal we had in Hamburg. It is self-serviced, you order at the counter and get your food right away (except for ramen like Tantanmen), and then you pay and find a seat to enjoy the food.
We ordered Udon in soup with beef. We like the texture of the Udon noodle, it’s chewy and not too soft. Personally we don’t like noodles that are too soft, and if we didn’t get it wrong, we saw they use Sanuki Udon, which is a very popular kind of Japanese Udon noodle. The soup base seems to be a basic one with dashi, soy sauce and mirin. Nothing complicated yet delicious. The portion of beef is huge, and the beef is well seasoned and tendered.
We added 2 euro to have a lunch menu with Inari sushi. Inari sushi is a kind of sushi that rice is wrapped around with the tofu skin, little bit sweet, but it’s one of my favourite sushi. During lunch time, there also provide tea for free. We absolutely like this restaurant for lunch (because they are closed in the evening) and will recommend to anyone who want some delicious authentic Japanese quick lunch
Food we ordered:
