A Taste of Authentic Korean Street Food in Hamburg
We recently found this super cozy spot in Hamburg that gives me all the feels from going to Seoul! Seoul 1988 in Innenstadt totally nails that authentic Korean street dining experience. Love how they designed everything to feel like those popular pojangmacha spots (street food tents) in Korea.

The Heart and Soul of Korean Comfort Food
OMG, their Korean fried chicken is seriously next level! Like, imagine biting into these perfectly crispy boneless pieces that are literally dripping with juice inside. You get to pick from four different sauces, and we went for their half-and-half combo (pro tip: always get two flavors when you can’t decide!) The soy sauce glaze has this rich, deep umami thing going on, while the sweet chili brings just enough heat and sweetness to make your taste buds dance.

The Real Deal Korean Experience
Before the main dishes arrive, they hook you up with some legit banchan. Three different kinds of these little side dishes that Koreans always start their meals with. The kimchi is on point with that perfect fermented kick. The cucumber banchan for that crispy freshness, and these home-style potatoes and carrots remind me of what Korean aunties would make.

Their kimchi stew is what Korean comfort food dreams are made of! Picture this: a bubbling hot bowl filled with spicy, soul-warming broth, tender pieces of pork, soft tofu, and perfectly fermented kimchi. It comes with a bowl of steaming rice, and when you mix them together, it’s just pure comfort in every spoon. When that cold Hamburg weather hits, this is exactly what you need!

The Vibe
Despite being a small space with just one server during our late evening visit, the service was on point. The intimate setting actually adds to the authentic Korean dining experience, making you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden gem in the streets of Seoul.
