  • Om-Soba with Chicken
  • Matcha Ice-cream

I finally found THE spot for amazing okonomiyaki in London! Like, not just good, but mind-blowingly authentic. Just like how some places nail the whole vibe with their sleek setup, Abeno totally gets it right with their traditional teppanyaki tables, and we totally love the experience!

The Experience
OMG, so here’s the thing: it’s not just about eating (which is amazing btw). Every table has this hot metal plate where they make your okonomiyaki right in front of you! The attention to detail reminds me of those high-end places that focus on professional kitchen skills, but here it’s like… your own private cooking show!

Menu Highlights
Okay, let me tell you about their “London” okonomiyaki, it’s this crazy-good fusion thing that shouldn’t work but totally does (kinda like how some places mix unexpected flavors and create magic). They layer this special batter with cheddar cheese, pork, bacon, and salmon. I know what you’re thinking – cheese in okonomiyaki?! Trust me on this one!

The whole process is like watching a dance – they spread the batter, add the salmon, sprinkle cheese (omg, the cheese pull!), another layer of batter, then the pork and bacon. The finale with the sauce, seaweed, and those dancing bonito flakes? The outcome is just delicious!

Beyond Okonomiyaki
Just like how some spots represent their culture while trying new things, Abeno nails both traditional and creative dishes. Their Yaki Nasu is this amazing garlicky eggplant situation that’ll make you forget every other eggplant dish you’ve had. And the Om-Soba? Picture this: perfectly fried noodles wrapped in this fluffy egg blanket. Heaven!

Sweet Ending
And… don’t even get me started on their Matcha Ice Cream! It just won a Great Taste Award 2023, and it’s made with this fancy matcha from this super old tea place in Kyoto, Uji-En (like, 1869 old!). They add these sweet red beans that make it extra special.

Service That Shines
The staff at Abeno doesn’t just serve food – they create memories. Their attention to detail, like cutting the okonomiyaki into perfect portions for sharing, and their genuine warmth make the experience even more special. Just as some restaurants succeed by lowering entry barriers, Abeno succeeds by making authentic Japanese cuisine approachable and enjoyable for everyone. It’s a place we definitely want to come back again.
