A Xiaolongbao Haven in London
What started as a cooking oil business in Taiwan in 1958 has now become a global phenomenon, with their London branches being the talk of the town. The Centre Point location, just steps away from Tottenham Court Road Station, is one of three London outposts bringing their world-famous soup dumplings to eager British diners.
The Space and Atmosphere
Walking into Din Tai Fung Centre Point, you’re immediately struck by the impressive high ceilings and modern decor. While tables are arranged relatively close together (it’s London, after all!), the spacious height gives an airy feel that makes the dining experience comfortable and relaxed.
The Star of the Show: Xiao Long Bao (XLB)
Let’s talk about these little bundles of joy! Xiaolongbao, or XLB, are delicate soup dumplings that originated in Shanghai. Each dumpling is meticulously crafted with 18 precise folds (yes, they count!) and filled with minced pork and flavorful broth that liquefies during steaming. Din Tai Fung has mastered the art – their dumpling skin is whisper-thin yet strong enough to hold the precious soup inside. The classic Pork XLB here is so irresistible that my group of three ate 20 pieces!
Beyond the Dumplings
While XLB might be the headliner, the supporting acts deserve their own spotlight. The Honey & Vinegar Short Ribs strike that perfect sweet-sour balance that gets your taste buds dancing. The Dou Miao (pea shoots) with Garlic is a refreshing vegetable dish that’s surprisingly hard to find in Europe. Their Special Noodle Soup with Braised Beef features tender meat that’s been cooked to perfection, while the new Crispy Chicken Cutlet offers a satisfying crunch without being greasy.

From the moment you step in, the staff’s professionalism shines through. They’re attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful – exactly what you’d expect from a Michelin-recommended establishment. Pro Tips: Reservations are absolutely essential!
